What the 24/7 line is
The line is staffed at all hours so a flooded kitchen at midnight reaches a person and not a voicemail box. It serves Middletown, DE and nearby towns, from the business address at 119 Patriot Drive, Middletown, DE 19709. That address is a dispatch base in an industrial and flex-space area, not a retail shop.
The plumbers who take jobs are independent Delaware professionals, and we match the call to one who can take your address and your kind of work. We have chosen not to publish names, team sizes or license numbers on this site, because those details belong to the plumber who takes your job. You can ask the plumber for a license number and verify it yourself.
How dispatch works, from call to door
The steps are the same for an emergency and for a planned job, though the order of choices differs.
- You callGive your street, town, ZIP and what you see or hear. Say whether you have closed the main shutoff, and whether anyone is in danger.
- We sort the callA dispatcher decides whether it is an emergency, a same-day candidate or a planned job. Gas smell and fire danger go to 911 first.
- We match a plumberThe call goes to a licensed and insured plumber who covers your address and the service involved. We tell you on the call what happens next.
- The plumber gives a clear priceThe plumber looks at the problem and states the price before work starts. You can agree, ask questions or say no.
We make no time promises, and here is why
We do not publish arrival times because plumbers work from a live schedule and a burst pipe elsewhere can change it. What we offer is same-day appointments when available, and a 24/7 line that answers whenever you call. If the plumber cannot reach you as quickly as you need, we will tell you honestly and help you with the first steps.
For a real emergency, that means the steps you can take while you wait: closing the main shutoff, stopping drain use and keeping people away from wet electrical areas. Those steps are the best protection for your home, and they work however long the plumber takes.
What licensed means in Delaware
Delaware requires a Delaware license to do plumbing work, even for someone licensed in another state. The Board of Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Examiners sits under the Division of Professional Regulation and issues Master Plumber licenses. Anyone can check a license with the state's Verify License Online tool at delpros.delaware.gov.
Run that check on any contractor, including ours. Search by name, confirm the license is active, and match it to the person who shows up.
The state plumbing regulation, 16 Del. Admin. Code 4455, adopts the 2021 International Plumbing Code with state amendments on water heater piping, relief valves and expansion tanks, and it requires owners to test backflow assemblies annually.
How the price works
The plumber sets the price, and you see it before work starts. A clear price means the scope of the job, the main parts and the labor are explained in terms you can follow. If something behind a wall changes the job, the plumber should stop and update you before continuing.
We do not quote prices on this site or on the phone line, because pricing a plumbing job without seeing it is guesswork. Ask the plumber what could change the number, such as access, parts, or a permit. Our plumbing services page describes each job so you know what to ask.
What we will not do
We do not take requests online, by form, by chat or by email. The phone line is the only way to request service. The email address on the contact page is for business questions only, and it is not monitored as a dispatch channel.
We also will not tell you a job does or does not need a permit. Permit rules vary, so ask the town permits office at 302-378-1171 before you decide.
Licensed contractors, permits and the town
Middletown's Permits, Licensing and Inspections office is at Town Hall, 19 W. Green Street, and it takes phone calls until 4:30 p.m. and visits from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The town publishes a Plumbing Permit Application, a Drain and Vent Self-Certification Form and an Under-Slab Drain and Vent Self-Certification Form for work on or after 11-11-2019. Each phase of permitted work is inspected by the town code official.
Contractors doing building or reconstruction work must be licensed with the town, and owners who rent or lease a residence without living in it must have it inspected before occupancy. If you are a landlord or property manager, mention that when you call. Our service area page shows the towns where we dispatch.
Common questions
Is Middletown 24/7 Plumbing a plumbing company?
It is a dispatch line. We send licensed and insured Delaware plumbers to jobs, and the plumber, not the line, does the work and sets the price.
Can I request service online or by email?
No. The phone line is the only way to request service. The email address on the contact page is for business questions only.
How do I confirm a plumber is licensed?
Search the name at delpros.delaware.gov using the state's Verify License Online tool. Delaware requires its own license for plumbing work.
Do you promise an arrival time?
No. We offer same-day appointments when available and a 24/7 line, but we do not promise a time, because live schedules change.
Will you tell me if a permit is needed?
We will tell you when a job raises a permit question and send you to the town permits office at 302-378-1171, which decides.
To talk to a dispatcher, call (410) 378-7601 at any hour.
